Approximate Age: 2 years.
Weight: 15 Lbs.
Rescued from: Los Angeles area.
Likes: Smokey likes people, isn't afraid of men or strangers in the street. He likes my husband and greets him with barking in the morning (that is joyful barking for sure). He also likes to play with our three daughters (2, 6 and 9 years old) and the girls adore Smokey. He loves to walk outside! We take him for a walk 5-6 times a day: 1-2 long walks and 3-4 quick walks (5-10 minutes: to let him make do his "business"). Smokey is very active and energetic, he often invites us to play with him. He likes being petted and being cuddled.
Dislikes: Smokey's character is very predictable and open. He is a very easygoing dog. So it was very difficult for me to think of any dislikes. He doesn't like when some of family members approach me to kiss goodnight, when I am already lying in bed. He may jump up trying to stop that. (When I have physical contact with husband and kids, being in standing or sitting position - Smokey doesn't care).
Ideal Home: Smokey is very friendly with all the people in our household. I believe, he will be good for any family and for people of any age! We don't have other animals at home, so I don't know how he will get along with dogs and cats. But he is always interested in other dogs outside (in friendly way).
Energy Level: High.
Experience with Kids: Yes.
Experience with cats: Unknown.
Medical Needs: None at this time.
Training Needs: We are trying to train Smokey. He is very smart. But we are not experts in dog training, so by now he knows the commands "Come", "No", "No jumping", "No biting" - but often he disobeys. He is still learning. He never used his crate after coming to our home. He loves to wander in the house and lie on his blanket in the living-room. He marks indoor only at night (1 time) and if not taken outside regularly. He follows me from one room to another everywhere from the morning till night. He's always where I am. When Smokey eats, I have to be in the kitchen - otherwise he will leave the food and follows me.
From Smokey's foster: From the very first minute we met Smokey (after we delivered him home) he has shown himself as very friendly, open, playful and smart. He is excellent with kids - he is currently living in a house with three little girls (2, 6 and 9 years old), isn't afraid of men or strangers. On the night of his arrival, despite a long flight, 30 minutes' drive and being taken to new home, Smokey was merry and happy, with no any signs of stress. He loves to walk outside, always exploring areas of interest. He likes to run and jump in our backyard. His favorite toy is a fox stuffy that was given to him at the night of his arrival. He doesn't look like eager eater - doesn't eat much and quite indifferent to treats (prefers praise and tender strokes). Due to current city requirement to stay home we never left Smokey alone at home - so I am not aware of how he will react to that. Smokey is a very cheerful and beautiful dog!
