They call me : Renata

Predicted Breed: Chihuahua/Pug mix.
Sex: spayed female
Approximate Age: 2 years
Weight: 9 Lbs.
Rescued from: Los Cabos, Mexico
Likes: Renata likes running around and playing in the yard, chasing the ball - sometimes she brings in back to you, other times she wants you to chase her to get it! She appreciates her warm, cozy sweater on chilly days. She is becoming increasingly comfortable around her humans, she loves snuggles and pets and if you allow it, cuddling and sleeping on the bed.
Dislikes: Coming from Mexico, adjusting to the cold climate has been a challenge. She does not like snow and cold.

Ideal Home: Renata would do well in many home settings. She is quite a timid dog who needs a loving family committed to working on confidence building with her. Renata is a very quiet dog, content to nap and snuggle. She also has a playful side most seen when she is outside, so an ideal home would be one with a yard for her to play freely in.

Attached home, Detached home, Family with kids home, Quiet home, Active home
Energy Level: Low-Medium.
Experience with Kids: Yes.
Experience with cats: Yes.
Medical Needs: Renata is partially deaf, so she does not come when called. She had recent surgery that included removal of 9 teeth, so softening her hard food or adding soft food to her hard food is helpful. She also had a small hernia repaired and removal of a lump from her abdomen. The lump was confirmed as cancerous, however, the vet advised that all cancer was removed.  G
rade 1 heart murmur.  Potential adopters will need to monitor her for possible future vet care
Training Needs: Renata is housetrained. She has been left home alone for up to 6 hours without an accident. When in a new environment or around new people, she will seek out and find comfort in her crate. She is fine to sleep in her crate at night, though she prefers to snuggle and sleep with her humans. She also travels well in the car in her crate.

House broken, Crate trained, Shy, Walks on leash

From Renata's Foster:

Renata has come a long way since arriving in our home. She is developing food security and no longer inhales her food as she once did. She has gained weight and now seems to be at her ideal weight. Her confidence and sense of safety is improving. We have enjoyed watching her discover her more playful side as she chases balls and the other dogs outside. Renata is a cuddly, loving dog that has started to seek out pets and affection from her humans.

From Ares's Foster:

Easygoing, gentle and calm indoors, Ares is loved by everyone who has met him. Some of his favorite things include sunbathing and napping whenever and wherever he can, running around in the backyard with our resident dog, rolling in the grass, walks, squeaky toys and treats. Ares is very adaptable and will be great in any home. He is very sure of himself and just wants to be cared for. Though he is not a huge cuddler, he does love his pets and belly rubs!
